SURF SPOTS IN TAMRAGHT AND TAGHAZOUT AREA
SURF GUIDE BY HANG10 SURF CAMP MOROCCO
LET'S GO FOR SURFING
We have made a guide on spots and we share it with you!
SEASON
It is classically believed that the season of good waves in Tamraght and Taghazout is the period from September to May.
But for beginners, the summer period from June to August is also is working with small mellow waves. Also there are good waves in Imsouane in the summer and we work from June to August.
WAVES OF TAMRAGHT
K17, K18
These spots are located 17km north of Agadir in front of few hotels and villas, hence its name. K17 and K18 are a point beach breaks with a sandy bottom and a few rocks, and is great for beginners.
K11, K12
K11 is one of the few left on the Taghazout bay area (good news for goofy) is located next to Banana point. On its good days, you’ll get a take off with a little barrel section on a reef to end up with a fun section on the beach.
K12 is a reef break that breaks as an A-frame with a perfect left and right. It has an entire reef bottom, but deep enough and slow waves to be a good sport for intermediate surfers. K12 can hold a decent size swell and is more consistent than K11.
BANANA POINT
Right-hand point break, but much more forgiving than the points further north. Therefore, it’s ideal for intermediate surfers and for those wishing to surf a point break for the first time. With a big swell, it can offer challenging sections for advanced surfers too. Also this spot is good for beginners with a small swell.
CRO CRO
The first surf spot you can reach by walking from the village, Crocodiles is one of the most consistent waves in the area. This beach break is a great place to learn to surf in Tamraght and it's ideal for begginers.
DEVIL'S ROCK
Another point breaking over a sandy bottom, this wave offers a variety of sections and conditions for all levels of surfers and can be tackled by beginners too. It offers a big diversity of waves from rights on low tide, left and right on high tide. It holds up perfectly till 1,5m.
SPIDERS
This fast and hollow point reef break produces a ripping and shredding A-frame barrel for advanced surfers only.
WAVES OF TAGHAZOUT
KILLER POINT
One of Morocco’s best point break and considered the most consistent of all the point breaks in the Taghazout area. This 300m long wave has a lot to offer from speed sections, bowl sections, and barrels. During low tide on small swells, the waves start at the north end of the cliff and it provides a short left and sectioning right. When the swell picks up, vertical walls provide barrels and very hollow sections.
It can be a long paddle if the tide is not low enough to walk along the cliff to get to the first sections. For advanced surfers only.
LA SOURCE
Breaking over a rock reef, this wave doesn’t get too big and is quite consistent, offering something for all levels of surfers.
MYSTERIES
More accessible than other point breaks in the area, this wave is recommended for intermediate and advanced surfers. On its good days, it can reach about 250m long with barrels but it cannot handle a very large swell – it closes out over 2m.
ANCHOR POINT
This is Morocco’s most famous surf spot and one of the most crowded. With a big swell, this point reef break becomes a freight train. Very consistent and clean, it offers several sections, with a steep take-off and hollow and fast finish. This one is recommended for advanced surfers.
HASH POINT
Next to Anchor Point and right in front of town, this fast point break is more forgiving than its big brother and is excellent for intermediate surfers.
PANORAMA
Panorama is a right-hander, with a sand bottom that breaks on a big beach offers great beginner-friendly waves, but only during high tide.
When it’s more than 5 ft, Panorama’s can be a very fast and barreling when the swell and the winds take the right direction. Then it becomes a good break for intermediate to advanced surfers.
SURF SPOTS IN AROUND
There are also famous spots with magnificent waves around Tarmaght and Taghazout, information about them is below
IMSOUANE
The Bay: the sandbanks make it perfect for all levels. Nice spot for longboarders. The surf here is best at low tide, with a right-handed break that starts at the harbor and ends at the hills for a 600 meters ride!

Cathedral: starting on a beach break with several rights and left peaks, and ends on a reef which provides a perfect break (left-handed). Good for intermediate and advanced surfers.
TAMRI
Tamri Beach is the most consistent surf spot ever. When it’s flat everywhere else, we make the drive north till Tamri. If the sandbanks are good, Tamri can be a pretty good beach break as well. But most of all, it works on different tides, depending on the sandbanks and on the swell. Very reliable and appropriate to all levels.
ANZA
Recently, the swell has made Anza light up pretty regularly; it’s become really popular with local surfers. The beach is only 10 minutes away – go south and it’s just before Agadir. This awesome spot has a peaky, steep left which sits on a reef, and a mellower, pealing right on the sand. The middle section works too so there’s loads of space for everyone. For all levels.
BOILERS
A shipwreck gave the name to this break, where you can see the boiler of a boat at the start of the wave. This is probably the trickiest and spectacular break around, often visited by pro photographers for the intensity of pictures taken!
Recommended for experienced surfers due to its very strong and fast right hander that ends up onto a strong shallow reef. The wave can have tubular sections if it's more than 6 ft and it can reach up to 400m long, but better be fast if you want to connect all the sections there. Don't venture if you are not sure about what you are doing or if you’re not with a local guide to tell you where the sea urchins are or where to get in the water. Still, get ready to hurry across the reef on your way out before the next set hits. After all said, it’s well worth it and one of the most exciting waves in Taghazout area. For advanced surfers.
DESERT POINT
Unlike most of the other breaks, this one is well known for its inconsistency and strong currents. Therefore, it’s normally empty! Though, it is famous for endless right hander and off shore winds that can really produce a perfect wave for intermediate and advanced surfers! Just like the majority of the other points in the area, it's a point break that breaks at low tide and starts working at 4 ft and holds up to 500m long. If you want to ride it just ask our instructors the time to do it. We know when it’s working! The spot also has a long beach break, which works great for beginners.
